About this ebook

A dead child. A grieving mother. A private investigator with a past that won’t stay buried.

When five-year-old Declan Bond’s death is ruled an accident, his grandmother refuses to accept the verdict. She believes there’s more to the story—and that the truth is being buried along with her grandson. Enter Zachary Goldman, a private investigator with his own demons and a knack for digging deeper than anyone else.

Flawed and broken, but relentless, Zachary takes the case.

As he pieces together the events surrounding Declan’s death, Zachary uncovers secrets that someone is desperate to keep hidden. With his own life in shambles, he understands loss—and he won’t stop until he exposes the truth, even if it means putting himself in danger.

I did like the book. It is an entry into the world of mental illness but also touches on the impact on parents, loved ones when a chld has to be removed from the home. The guilt, pain, and sometimes the relief because you are wore out and wore down emotionally. It's like a reprieve from total exhaustion of emotions.

Im not going to finish it. I really hate giving up but I cannot get into the story. Zachary is not a great central character imo. Hes got way too much going on. And I don't think he's strong enough to carry the story which wld be really good if we cld just get on with it without him

Excellent reading. This book kept me reading into the early hours, although I was a bit confused at the beginning. Once I understood what was going on I was hooked.
