Michael Higgins I was born in 1930 in the West Midlands of England in a small town, Stourport-on-Severn. Secondary schooling was at Hartlebury Grammar School. When I left that I did National Service in the RAF, at the close of which I spent two years at Chester College for Teacher Training. I then taught at Primary Schools in the West Midlands, before going to Southampton University to study Biology for 3 years in which I eventually obtained an honours Degree. Then I returned to teaching, now in Secondary Schools, and finally retired as Head of Biology at Milford Grammar School, Pembrokeshire.
