About this ebook

Mistakenly holding up the coach of the man who broke her heart is bad enough, but having to endure his sinfully alluring company all the way to Scotland is Daisy Hamilton’s worst nightmare . . . and her most secret desire.

A midnight mishap.

Daisy Hamilton’s new mission for King & Co., London's premier private investigation firm, is simple: stop heiress Violetta Brand from eloping. But her case is derailed when she mistakenly holds up the carriage of Lucien Vaughan, Duke of Cranford—cynical war hero, infamous libertine, and the very man who broke her heart five years ago.

A reluctant road trip.

Lucien’s determined to see his lovestruck nephew married to Miss Brand, but the unexpected appearance of Daisy— the one woman he’s never been able to forget—could ruin his plans. As they follow the runaway couple together, Lucien decides that delaying the headstrong Daisy by any means possible—including seduction—will be his absolute pleasure . . . and hers.

A dangerous desire.

After Daisy’s reputation is threatened, Lucien makes a scandalous claim, but when an unexpected enemy threatens her life, he realizes she’s the only woman for him. Their past encounters have made Daisy almost as jaded about love as Lucien himself, and it’s going to take action, not words, to convince this knife-wielding hellion to risk her heart on him again...

A race against time with opposing goals Dorothea - Daisy to her friends - has been hired to stop the elopement of a young couple. Complicating matters is the young man's uncle, the new Duke of Cranford and Daisy's nemesis. He has a conflicting agenda, which he keeps under wraps so he can manipulate Daisy's travel options to prevent her from completing her assignment. This is the only problem I had with the story - he's not the least bit repentant, even after she finds out, and his smug entitlement made it hard for me to like or respect him. Daisy and Lucien have a Scarlett & Rhett relationship, which admittedly is fun to watch as it develops into a more solid romance. Danger finds them on this haphazard road trip, along with a notorious gossip, a situation that seems to call for a marriage of convenience. All along, our duke is crafty and cunning, playing chess with everyone's lives to suit his own selfish moods. That he eventually falls in love with Daisy is about his only redeeming quality, but Daisy is such a delightfully determined warrior that if she forgives him, we must too. It's not as solid a story as the previous two books in this series, but if you've read those you certainly don't want to miss this one. All in all, it was a fun road trip with a strong, valiant lady and a man who would be called Adam Henry today.

Private investigator Daisy and her ex-lover, the Duke of Cranford, are forced into a reluctant road trip together to stop a runaway heiress. Their journey reignites old passions and leads to unexpected seduction. Fun and fast-paced, this book has unique characters and a clever plot. Daisy and Cranford have strong chemistry, and their banter is delightful. It’s a steamy, heartwarming read. Thanks, NetGalley, for the ARC I received. This is my honest and voluntary review.

I just adored this steamy, second chance at love with a little suspense thrown in. Lucien and Daisy were perfect together and balanced each other out well. Another great book in the fun series.
