Sometimes when one is in love, you'd like to think that the person you were in love with would be infallible in their loyalty, love and faith in you but like most men, this Marine is not. He was human in his frailty and stubborn misconceptions. In his weakness, one would feel a bit disappointed. He was supposed to be the husband the protector, the one person who should have been there for better or worst but he wasn't. And it cost him a decade of bitterness and anger. Never moving on and forever stuck on the hate button of being allegedly abandoned. So easy for him to believe that his wife could do that. But beyond the heartaches, they both deserved their second chance. Hope Luca finds his true happiness somehow.

Once again, this much loved and talented author delivers a 5+ stars story. Though not required, I would highly suggest reading the prequel, Rescued by a Bad Boy, in which you will get the early years of this young couple. Marine Brax Whitmore has recently left the military . During his time in a place that taught him new skills as he entered civilian life, he made a close friendship with two other former military men . While looking forward to a new life with his friends, he never forgot the love of his live, his ex-wife, Mia Whitmore. What he never expected was not only to see her again after ten years, but that she is the contractor the men will be hiring for their bakery, but also that the divorce has never been filed. As these two reconnect and open their hearts to one another, we find out what really happened ten years ago. But it seems the past is still trying to harm Mia. Will they be able to overcome the danger, the old hurts, and the new discoveries? Or , will they each go their separate ways, something neither wants but seem they are struggling to overcome every time something else comes to light. This is a story filled with heartbreak that at times will make you teary. It’s also heartwarming as they give life and love a second chance, especially when that love never died. It’s another wonderful story by this talented author and a great start to the new series. I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

Sometimes books take up the time of your life when you're reading them, other times books stay with you. The prequal to this book, stayed with me, primarily as, for the first time, I didn't like the shero. You'll be pleased to know that this book put right a few of my initial presumptions, however please don't read this book thinking you'll get answers to all your questions. The story is great, you get to catch up with some old characters and give a little more history to some friends from other books (don't worry you'll be able to read this as a stand alone book). You get the chance to right some wrongs and get a glimpse of the happy ever after, but you'll be clambering for the next in this series. If love small town romance but you've never read a Kait Nolan book grab this and jump in. I think she is one of the best small town romance writers around. You'll get a little bit of steam and sizzle, a bucket load of romance but most importantly characters that you want to know about, and in this case, they are popping into my head long after I read the book. . I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
