I received a complimentary early release e-book prior to release and am voluntarily leaving a review. This was such a wonderful story about two very lost and lonely people who are hurting and who find each other. I really loved this story so much. It was a unique story within the hockey world. It does have a little bit of insta love/lust on Grady's side.

Neither of them is looking for a relationship, in fact it’s the last thing either of them need however sometimes fate puts a person in your life for a reason. I was quickly drawn into Grady and Aspen’s story. It touched on a number of harsh realities in life and those were handled with dignity, Defending is a story of courage, of love and hope and of overcoming the challenges that life often throws in your path. It was well written and I look forward to reading more in the series.

Grady found himself in a personal situation when he started on the new team. He thought he could keep his connection to his coach a secret, but his grumpiness did not fool anyone. Aspen came into his life and brought light. Together, they had to work through past hurts to trust each other and those around. It was very entertaining as Grady struggled through his feelings and realized that his perspective may have been the problem. I did enjoy this story. My unsolicited review.
