About this ebook

Duncan McKinnon is on leave from the Army Rangers to help his brothers find their missing father. Having sustained a shrapnel wound to the leg, his continued military service is up before a medical review board. A chance meeting in the airport with the woman he’d seduced on his last trip home makes him want to launch a mission to rekindle their desire. But if the military boots him out, he’ll be jobless and unable to support himself or anyone else that comes along.

Fiona Guthrie left Eagle Rock, Montana after a short-lived love affair with the one guy she’d never stopped loving. Relegated to the friend-zone in high school, she’d given up hope on Duncan McKinnon until one fateful night when he’d been home on leave. Their one-night stand only reinforced the fact Duncan was the only man for her and the baby created from their short union. Now she’s back in Eagle Rock, running for her life and the life of their baby girl. She needs his help to save herself and their daughter from someone who wants them dead.

When Duncan learns Fiona and her little girl are in trouble, he vows to protect them with his life, not quite understanding the incredible connection he has to the little girl who looks nothing like Fiona and more like him. The threat plaguing Fiona might just expose a connection to the McKinnon brothers’ missing father.

Ranger's Baby by Elle James is the second book in the Iron Horse Legacy series and definitely worth reading. I really enjoyed this story! The only man Fiona has ever loved put her in the friend zone years ago and left her there until one night fifteen months ago. However, since then she hasn't seen or heard from him even though they are best friends. She is now busy raising their daughter by herself and working in Eagle Rock working as a deputy with the local Sheriff's Department. Duncan returned home to help his family and local law enforcement agencies find his missing father and so far hasn't seen Fiona, until she calls him needing his help keeping their daughter safe. A daughter he knew nothing about since he has been gone months on a mission with the Army Rangers. Working together to find out who is targeting Fiona and threatening their family puts them closer together and both of them are finding it difficult to hide their true feelings for one another. I'm looking forward to reading more books in this wonderful series! I was given an ARC from the author/publisher. All conclusions are mine and mine alone.

A great story! Ranger's Baby is the second book in the Iron Horse Legacy series but you don't need to have read the first one to enjoy this. I haven't read it yet and didn't feel lost when reading Ranger's Baby. I do have to warn you though, there is a mystery that I'm sure began in book one that isn't resolved in book two either. Other than that Ranger's Baby is a complete story with an HEA for the couple featured in this story. Fiona and Duncan were best friends growing up but Duncan didn't realize that Fiona wanted more. After a one-night-stand he finally realized that she means a lot more to him than he ever admitted to himself. When he finds out that their one night together created a baby, that Fiona never told him about, he's upset but determined to get to know his daughter. I love "secret baby" stories and this one is really great. With Elle James' signature blend of romance, intrigue and danger, this story kept me on the edge of my seat while reading it. I was a bit tense in anticipation of the climatic "event" of the story but when it came it was so much more than I could have anticipated. Fans of Elle's Brotherhood Protectors series will be happy to get a brief visit with some of the characters from that series. The Ranger's Baby is another great book from one of my favorite authors and I can't wait to read more in this series. While I don't feel like this story really qualified as a cliffhanger, I'm anxious to read more in this series and to have the overarching mystery solved. An advanced copy of this book was provided to me but my review was voluntary and not influenced by the author.

Ranger's Baby is an outstanding romantic suspense by Elle James. This is a fairly quick read, perfect for those with limited reading time. Ms. James has once again delivered a smooth, well-written book and populated it with a stellar cast of characters. Fiona is a deputy and single mom to a 6-month-old. Duncan is Fiona's best friend and doesn't know he's the father of her 6-month-old baby. Surprise! Duncan and Fiona's story is packed with drama, humor, sexy bits, action and suspense. I loved this book and look forward to my next book by Elle James. Ranger's Baby is book 2 of the Iron Horse Legacy Series but can be read as a standalone. While the story of Duncan's missing father from book 1 still lingers, this is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book that I received from Prolific Works. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
