About this ebook

She moves through the ballroom like she belongs—though fear tells her otherwise. Lady Louisa Beaumont has mastered the art of appearances. Poised, elegant, admired… and hiding a secret she fears will cost her everything. She cannot read. It’s a truth she guards with silent shame, her smile concealing the worry that one misstep could unmask her.

He sees what he shouldn’t—and says what she’ll never forget. Lord Phineas Hawke, clever and aloof, wounds Louisa deeply with one careless remark. To him, she’s just a pretty face. To her, his words confirm her greatest fear: that she’s not enough. But when his tone shifts and his actions soften, Louisa finds herself caught between the comfort of distance and the risk of being truly known.

Two guarded hearts. One truth waiting to be. As the season unfolds, Louisa must decide whether to stay silent and safe—or step into the vulnerable honesty that could change everything. And as Phineas begins to see beyond her mask, she discovers that strength isn’t found in perfection—but in the courage to be seen.

If you’ve ever wished love could see you, know you, and still stay—this book might just feel like a quiet yes.

Ever since Louisa overheard a conversation at a ball, she has hated Phineas Hawke with a passion. It doesn’t help that every time she sees him he teases and needles her, and now his brother has wed her cousin they are thrown together even more. After a bad judgment call on Louisa’s part leads to anguish and fear for a sibling, her guilt nearly breaks her but an unexpected outburst provides Phineas with an opportunity to gain her trust, and perhaps her affection. Highly recommended romance.
