SLOW, dated (not retro) design, aggressively green. Typing lacks basic features. Notifications never go away. Filters randomly reset. Absolutely infested with inactive profiles, scammers, bots, & abusers. So functionally the same as other free versions of dating and hookup apps with a quirkier aesthetic. That said, there is a large userbase of actual queer folks, so you might meet someone if you can catch them while they're new & active. I met my partner on Lex.

App turned into just a cash grab with travel, post packs, and making everything just a dating app like Hinge essentially. Lost its whole charm and became corporate. Notifications refuse to work but only recently have they fixed it. Now only THEIR SELF PROMO AD DMs work. Still can't toggle on notifications from other user DMs. I wish I could show the screen as the toggle slides right back to off after I slide or tap it to on.

It's been weird watching lex go from a small, anonymous hookup and message board app to just another tinder copy dating app with a public post feature infested with bots. Frankly, it feels like it's become more and more corporate and devoid of queer culture and, at this point, has too many functions to have any real use. Dozens of interests you can list on groups but no drag, with the sexuality section being limited to just kink, cruising and dating, and over encompassing paid features abound.

We really appreciate your honesty 💚 Lex started as a scrappy queer space, and we know it hasn’t always felt that way lately.
