The bus tour in Mohács

The well-known folk custom of the Mohács many people, the time of bus travel, is determined by the first full moon after the spring solstice. In the past, the fun lasted from Carnival Sunday morning to Easter Eve Tuesday night. On the last Thursday of the Carnival, children will dress up in masquerade. The bus tour belongs to the family of winter farewell, spring greeting, protection and fertility holidays, which can also be found in the beliefs of other peoples. It is as related to the Rio and Venetian carnivals as it is to the customs of the African people.

Today, the folk customs that have been diverted into the bed of tourism have lost much of their original traditions, but they have gained a lot in terms of attractions. Today's bus ride begins in the center of the old folk custom, Kóló Square. The dressed buses, yankees and masquerades gather here, the buses crossing the Danube with the cannons, the devil's wheel, the cart, the horn, the turtle and other buso groups meet here. On the roar of the old front-loading bus cannon, various groups march across the main street to the main square of Mohács, where free carnival begins. After that, the carnival is celebrated on the banks of the Danube and in the surrounding streets, making a terrible noise. At dusk, they return to the main square and dance around the huge bonfire lit, wandering around with people. That concludes Carnival Sunday. However, the people of Mohács will also be carnivaling on Tuesday, when they will say goodbye to the cold season by burning and dancing around the coffin, which marks another winter bonfire, and greet the coming of spring.
