About this app

In our "Book of Lamentations Grigor Narekatsi" (Matyan Voxbergutyan Grigor Narekatsi) app,
we offer the English, Russian, Classical Armenian, and Vazgen Gevorgyan's modern translations of the "Book of Lamentations" prayer book.

The app is currently in the development phase, so there may be issues that arise during use,
changes during updates, as well as some typographical errors and mistakes in the prayers.
We kindly ask for your understanding as we address these issues step by step.
In the future, we are considering adding translations in other foreign languages and additional Armenian versions,
as well as the possibility to listen to the prayers.

We are open to cooperation and would love to hear your advice and suggestions regarding the development
of the app and the dissemination of our Armenian spiritual treasures.

We, a group of followers of the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church, aim to make this spiritual treasure
more accessible, hoping to contribute to the strengthening of our faith.
We do not pursue any profit with this app or our other projects; our sole purpose is to serve God.

*** About Grigor Narekatsi ***

Grigor Narekatsi(Gregory of Narek) was likely born in the 1040s of the 10th century and passed away after the year 1003.
He was the son of Bishop Khosrov Andzevatsi and the daughter of Anania Narekatsi’s brother.
Together with his two brothers, he grew up in the Narek Monastery of the Rshduni region, “nurtured and trained in holiness
and wisdom at the feet of Anania the priest,” whom Asoghik considered a "great philosopher," and Ughtanes regarded as a "cosmic teacher."

From his mention in the "Book of Lamentations," it is known that Grigor was ordained as a priest in the monastery,
and it is further clarified that he was also called a teacher (from the term "petevar") and a scholar, and during his lifetime,
he was revered not only as "just" but also as "holy."

Grigor Narekatsi's "Book of Lamentations" is 1022 years old. For nearly 11 centuries, this immortal
and unparalleled work has captivated and enchanted its readers, healing,
educating, and nurturing generations, and it remains timeless.
