Presented by Cracking The Cryptic, the most popular Sudoku channel, here is the brand new "Sandwich Sudoku" game that has become an internet sensation!

In Sandwich Sudoku, the puzzle is presented with extra numbers outside the grid next to each row and column. These numbers indicate the SUM of cells sandwiched between the 1 and the 9 in that row/column. The logic required to solve the puzzles will appeal to anyone who enjoys normal sudoku and a bit of basic maths. Each puzzle here has been lovingly hand-crafted by Mark Goodliffe and Simon Anthony, the hosts of Cracking The Cryptic. They've even included their own hints on each puzzle to help if you get stuck. Mark and Simon have both represented the UK many times in the World Sudoku Championship.

The game is very well laid out and fun though I do have a few issues with it. Firstly: it would be nice to do a multi pencil marking style. When I try to do corner pencil markings and middle markings, it just overwrites it. Making it hard to do double notation as per your cracking the cryptic videos. Secondly: I found puzzle 12 to have two different forms of ambiguous solutions surrounding the numbers 2,3 and 4. I input the numbers and verified that the puzzle should work either way.

The puzzles are very nice, and they get more difficult at the right pace. I didn't find the hints too helpful, perhaps because I got stuck at different parts of the puzzle than the creators were anticipating. Overall, very satisfying solves. The app could have had bigger input numbers (1-9). There's a big unused space nearer the top of the screen. The grid could be shifted up to make room. The digits are smaller than keyboard characters for text/email. "Fat finger" errors common and annoying.

The puzzles themselves are excellent just like all of CtC's apps, but the menu on this app is so much worse! I don't know why the interface had to be changed for this one, but I really wish there was a visual indicator that showed which puzzles are in progress like the other apps have. If I leave one partially complete, it becomes a guessing game to find which puzzle I was working through. That's a real shame.
