Their explanations set them apart from competitors. No other app explains cultural differences, grammar, and "Dutch things". For example: Babbel uses actual sounds that match the NS/train station. And their visual aids match what they're referring to (unlike competitors who use random, irrelevant pictures). The pricing and quality is simply superior.

Decent but not the best app for language learning. I am learning my second language from this app. Learnt Italian first and now I am learning German. However, I notice the same things. Not sure if it's just me but sometimes it feels like the app expects you to have some prior knowledge of the language as it has lots of words they use in conversations(which are super fast for a learner) that are not always translated. I am completely lost with German as the conversations are advanced level.

over-hyped and overpriced. Speaking exercises don't work properly. Several times I have passed my phone to someone who's first language is the one I'm studying and it still says incorrect. Seems overly strict or plain wrong. the words and phrases I'm being taught are also very outdated, again according to people who actually speak the language as their native tongue.
