Best free call and messaging app in the world, hands down! Facebook messenger is a close second for reliability, but again, no bells or whistles, plain and simple, Google Voice works. And you can port your number and you can choose your number!!! Yay team! But lately I am not receiving my sms verification codes, which is especially a hassle when it's the only number I can use where I live, in a remote forest area. The Help files don't help.

I have been using Google Voice for years! I love being able to have the same number I've had for decades, despite having gone through numerous phones, without porting my number each time! I also live that I can make and receive calls, and read and send messages, from my laptop, my phone, and my tablet! The spam blocking works pretty well -- some manage to get past any system! -- and messages get sent to me as a text so I don't often have to listen to them.

PROS • free • no spam calls • can be set to forward calls to your cell or house phone • can set voicemail • can keep number forever even if you don't use it once a month • recommended as best free phone and texting app even agrees CON (situational and fixable) • the clarity not always great. it might be my partner's phone that is the problem. • the default setting had it where I had to press 1 to accept a call but it's good now. • might be bit confusing at first
