This official app is free. Gemini gives you direct access to Google’s best family of AI models on your phone so you can:
- Get help with writing, brainstorming, learning, and more
- Summarize and find quick info from Gmail or Google Drive
- Use text, voice, photos and your camera to get help in new ways
- Say “Hey Google” to ask Gemini for help with what’s on your phone screen
- Make plans with Google Maps and Google Flights
If you have access to Gemini Pro it will be right here in the Gemini app.
The Gemini app is now live in English, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Chinese, Japanese, Korean and more languages. See the full list of supported languages and countries here:

If you opt in to the Gemini app, it will replace your Google Assistant as the primary assistant on the phone. Some Google Assistant voice features aren't available through the Gemini app yet — including controlling media and routines. You can switch back to Google Assistant in settings.

AI searches are great. But this is an absolute nightmare for navigation needs after a "hey google" trigger. The previous Google assistant immediately opened Google maps if given a command like "take me home" or "take me to work". Meanwhile this thing reads an essay about the distance and time to get there. Just show me the navigation, for heavens sake! The voice trigger is there so we can operate hands free, which is extra important when driving!

1st review – App needs work. Model is great and fast. Greek speech still needs dramatic improvement. No “jump to end” in long chats – endless scrolling to reach the bottom. Persistent “Gemini can make mistakes...” message is annoying and takes up space. Let us close it. Bottom of the chat often blocked by overlays – makes it hard to read the last message.

They fixed the play button. Awesome. When responding with audio, it cuts off if the phone goes to sleep/locks. This is EXTREMELY annoying. especially while driving. That's my biggest complaint. Another certain AI app continues playing the audio after the phone goes to sleep. Very good app and phone assistant but I keep hearing they want to put ads in Gemini. if they do that, I'm out.
